Socking Socks update!

Thanks to Barb from the Greater St Louis Knitters' Guild who lent me some 0 and 00 DPNs, and a couple of small crochet hooks. The 00s worked a treat to get the stitches back without pulling them out elsewhere. One round of kitting back on to the size 1 circulars, and we're all good.

The sock is back on the needle, and I can now restart the gusset increases. Phew.

Socking socks!

I'm frustrated. I got my sock out of my bag yesterday to find I'd lost a couple of stitches off the end of the needle. No problem. I put them back on OK. And carried on.

But no, somewhere I'd screwed up (I even counted them several times to make sure I hadn't but oh well), and I ended up with a run, the top of which I'd knit past for quite a way... tightly enough to make it very difficult to undo the run back uup to where I was. So, I ripped. And then found I was having difficulty getting the stitches back on the needle, and managed to create another run. Sigh. I think I need to use smaller needles to get it back on, but I'm using size 1s which are the smallest I have. Right now, the sock is off the needles, and ripped back further than in the last picture. I think I need to call one of my knitting friends to see if they can help me out, with smaller needles and better technique for getting the stitches back on.

Incidentally, if you can't see the pictures right now, Flickr have been moving their servers, which have caused some temporary problems.

It's been a strange day...

Today has been an odd day. Not being able to sleep, I got up early. I turned on the TV as I ate my breakfast to be greeted with the news about the London Bombings. But it's not entirely doom and gloom, as this person and this other person point out.

Thanks to all those who have enquired about family and friends. None of my family live in London, so they are OK, and my London friends have pretty much all reported in OK. As far as I know, I don't know anyone who was directly involved in any of the blasts. My heart goes out to those who didn't have that kind of good news though.

[Edit: Paul also has some interesting things to say.]
