Sockapalooza: Sock 2 complete, Sock 1 started
Many people suffer from Second Sock Syndrome, where the accomplishment felt completing one's first sock is so great that they never start the second. There are several solutions to this:
My solution? Knit the second sock first. Then it's done and out of the way.
And with that, it's time to announce that the second sock is complete! And I've started on the first!
- Cast on the second sock the very moment the first one is complete
- Knit both socks at the same time, side by side
- Double knit the socks simultaneously, one inside the other
- Knit the first sock to half-way-ish point, such as the heel flap, put the live stitches on a stitch holder (which is easy to do at the heel flap point), and then knit the second sock to completion, finally returning to the first sock.
My solution? Knit the second sock first. Then it's done and out of the way.
And with that, it's time to announce that the second sock is complete! And I've started on the first!

That is not at all the sock you were working on at Origins.
How long does a sock take you to make?

You're right, it's not. Depends on the pattern, and how much time I put into it. That sock pictured was done in about 10 days, on and off. Probably around 10-15 hours work.

I love it!
Mine are done but not mailed. I can't figure out where to find the cute little label like the one I printed out last year. So that's my excuse, sadly.

okay I am still intimidated even after you humor...I so want to try socks, but as I read through the very long sock pattern, I believe I gloss over and chicken out.

Hey Kimmie - try Joan's socks, which are the ones I did for my first sockapalooza. They are really simple, and as they use double strand of worsted weight yarn, they go really quickly too!
